Colombia Selected to Host FPAW 2027!

Congratulations to Mafer Bonilla and the Medellín, Colombia crew for being selected as the host site for the 2027 World Freestyle Championships (FPAW)!

I am truly excited and honored to be part of organizing the Freestyle World Championships in Colombia. To me, this is not only a major event, but also a new opportunity to continue strengthening freestyle in our region and showing the world the passion and energy of our community.

From now on, we are already working hard on many different aspects of the event. We have started developing ideas for the tournament logo, creating connections to secure beautiful natural grass venues, and reaching out to companies and hotels (thanks to Cami) that can support the event and help provide affordable accommodation options for players and visitors.

There are already so many ideas in motion because we want this championship to become something unforgettable—an experience that inspires people to come back to Colombia, not only for another World Championship, but simply to share a jam with us again.

We are also open, with love and excitement, to hearing suggestions from the community about what you would like this event to include. We want this championship to feel special for everyone and to reflect the spirit of freestyle that connects us all.

I am also deeply excited to serve as Tournament Director. I see this as an incredible opportunity to continue growing, learning, and giving back to the freestyle community. I truly believe this event will be something special because I am surrounded by amazing people who are supporting this dream every step of the way.

I am grateful to have the support of my husband Daniel “Árbol”, my godfather Santiago “El Charco”, and close friends like Ryan, Sebas, Tola, and Tymek, who has been supporting me from the very beginning. I know they will all give their full support and help make this event successful.

I also know that the freestyle community in Colombia will be excited to participate, support, and contribute in their own ways to make this event something truly special. This championship belongs to all of us, and I believe the love, energy, and passion of our community will make people feel welcomed and inspired from the moment they arrive.

Congratulations once again to Mafer and the entire Colombian freestyle community. We cannot wait to see what they create for the global freestyle family in 2027!

— Mafer Bonilla
