Congratulations to Mateo Espinoza (Teo), from Medellín, Colombia, who has been selected for the NYNC initiative for the World Freestyle Championships (FPAW) in Munich!
Teo began training freestyle frisbee consistently in December 2024, and from that moment he discovered the passion, fun, and positive energy that make freestyle jams so special. He enjoys sharing sessions with others, constantly learning, and bringing enthusiasm into every jam. His improvement in such a short period of time has been remarkable.
For Teo, freestyle quickly became much more than simply throwing a disc—it became a way to express himself, connect with others, and continue growing both as a player and as a person.
Professionally, Teo creates dental art, a field that requires precision, aesthetics, and attention to detail. Over time, he naturally brought those same qualities into freestyle, developing his own unique style and way of expressing himself through every routine. Could a variation of the YarNail be in his future?
Thanks to his dedication, Teo stands out for his discipline and his willingness to listen to and apply the advice of the people around him.
Now he is heading to Munich excited to learn, continue improving, and fully enjoy the experience. He loves traveling, capturing moments, exploring new places, staying active, and embracing the process while continuing to do what he is truly passionate about.
The plan is for Teo to further spread the jam in Colombia, help with the WFC in Munich, and become an important leader for the WFC in Colombia in 2027. Training a new generation of players is critical to our success, so let’s go!
Congratulations to Teo, who would not have been able to make it to Munich without the FPA NYNC program. Through the program, he will receive housing and free registration for FPAW throughout the weekend.
Huge gratitude also goes out to the other applicants who deserve all our love and support and were equally worthy of the sport’s support: Julian Obregon, Emilia Otalora, and Emilia Fongi.
We look forward to seeing Teo in Munich and watching his freestyle journey continue to grow!

Dear FPA-Board,
I just learned by accident that our Annual Membership Meeting is tomorrow.
I’m sorry, but it’s not the first time that such an important information dries up in the sand. I know you ‘re all working voluntarily but I don’t understand how something like this can happen. Nobody is on FB any more. Except the old generation of Freestyle Frisbee Players. We need to pull the stream of information from there asap. Did you try to reach out the the Players in a different way, too? If yes in how and why did some members didn’t get notified?
I’m very well aware that everyone is working voluntary and that the FPA as well as other federations is lacking staff but I don’t understand who this keeps happening, especially for the most important event for members. I’ve addressed my difficulties with the FPAs information politics in the past already and I don’t like to be put in that role of the permanent whiner. Something like this simply cannot happen.
What happened to the newsletter? I personally think you should cancel the event and sent out proper invitations to every member for another date.
With all due respect, I hope that some olks resonate with my perspective and understand my anger
