The beljams would love to welcome you for a weekend full of heiness, dancing, prancing and romancing* at lovely Ghent’s premier freestyle spot!   Our game plan will develop depending on how many folks want to get crazy with us, so be sure to click that love button and hook up with us 🙂 A few of the options on the table are a battle format, spontaneous hat and of course a blood-and-rage-filled-battle-to-the-death to claim the crown of BelJam Champion… It’ll be a bit of an informal affair as we’re new to this (not to say late) and are in truth not expecting an overwhelming turnout… What we do know for sure is that good times will be had! Catches will be made! Jaws – not discs – will be dropped!   The jamspot we’re eyeing is at the Blaarmeersen, a sports/recreational park with some nice grassy fields next to a swimming pond. The winds can be kind there and if things get too hot there’s always the option of taking a dip in the pond to cool down 🙂 All well and good, if the weather gods stay on our side… If not, we’ll have an indoor spot reserved just in case.   As for accomodation, for those who don’t mind sleeping on a couch, we can host about a dozen or so. Bring a mattress & sleeping bag! If sleeping in tents tickle your fancy, there’s a camping site right next to the spot that should run you no more than €20. For those in need of 24/7 room service the tiny city of Ghent has quite a few hotels scattered throughout. Steffen has more on that.   Ghent is not exactly what you’d call a metropolis. Most places of interest are within walking distance of each other. We feel the best option to get around easily would be to rent a bike. We have a few spare ones you can use, first come first serve 🙂 On the cultural side, we’ve got beer. And saxophones. Ghent is about 30 minutes by train from Brussels and 1 hour from Zaventem, the main airport. Some of the lowcostcompanies fly to Charleroi instead, that’s an additional 30 or so minutes. You’ll want to roll to Gent-Sint-Pieters.
