Under the wings of the Coloradicals and the spirit of the Grateful Disc Club in Fort Collins, CO, Carolyn quickly became hooked with freestyle frisbee. Combining her athletic background of swimming, ballet and gymnastics, she acquired a substantial set of disc skills and become a fierce woman’s competitor. Her game was defined by flow and grace, accurate z-packed throws and a dynamic catching game.
With the stars aligned, she found the perfect partner – Stacy Anderson-McCarthy, an equally gifted athlete with a mean counter throw. Together, they forged high level, acrobatic routines which propelled them into the spot light and dominance of women’s freestyle in the 80’s.
Outside of the women’s division, Carolyn and Stacy both influenced the growth of mixed pairs; making it a highly competitive, attention-worthy event. Carolyn earned World Mixed Pair titles with Bill Wright in 1985 and with Steve Hubbard in 1992.
Carolyn helped coin the Wright Life’s signature phrase of “Most Fun Wins” and the rest is history.
