Crazy John Brooks was the Captain of the World Champion Bud Light Frisbee Team. Together they made history. Crazy John became obsessed with the nail delay in 1978 while attending The University of Mississippi (Ole’ Miss). He experienced his first North American Series event in Kansas City in July of 1979. The next two years would see him join some of the top demo teams of that era, including “The Aces”, “Coca-Cola” and “Sunkist”; eventually scoring the dream gig with the Bud Light Frisbee Team, which all began on June 6, 1982- thanks to Dave Strandberg.

Having discovered a new realm of performing for live audiences, the world opened up to Crazy like never before. Whether hitting the turf at a packed Tiger Stadium or landing center stage in front of 150,000 spring breakers, venues far and wide would experience the Frisbee Energy that became his elixir. Groups such as Starship, The Beach Boys, Little Feat, KBC Band, Blue Oyster Cult, Heart, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and on several occasions, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, have all featured the Bud Light Team as their opening act.

Another huge Crazy/Bud Light Frisbee Team breakthrough was being invited as the opening act for the surf rock duo, Jan & Dean, on what would become the first American rock & roll tour of Communist China in 1986, where the jam was spread from the Great Wall, to the Streets of Shanghai and beyond.

Crazy’s most recent freestyle performance was a solo jam back in 2004 at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS on stage with The String Cheese Incident for an unforgettable jam in front of a packed house.

NOTE: CJB persevered in disc golf and Overall events also, winning the World Disc Overall, Japan Cup, European Cup and Swiss Cup before being inducted into the Disc Golf Hall of Fame in 2009. He is currently competing on the PDGA Pro Tour as a member of INNOVA’s Hall of Fame Team.
